Fashion photography 101

Shoot 1

This was such an amazing experience, so I came to South Africa to work on a few shoots with my girl, Gcebile Matsimbe (fashion blogger and photographer).
We had so many things in mind and it was so refreshing just brainstorming, trying to get the right mood across.
I could add this to the Fashion vs Nature project as most of the shoots were done outside.
Will be sharing them with you, just for you to have a look inside the minds of fashion bloggers/photographers and just people who love fashion.

The first shoot is at a horse stable at West Lake estate.

Location: Hartbeespoort, South Africa

Quick tip
This dress is suitable for an hourglass, pear shaped, rectangular and inverted-triangular shaped figure. It's such a busy pattern, so an apple-shaped could get away with this dress too.

My experience
This was a very relaxed experience, think it's because I did it with a friend and the surroundings were pretty relaxed, except for the deer that kept following us around, so half of the photos included him, but we were able to make this work out. This was beautiful and I loved just being comfortable and this was what we were aiming for.

Fashion vs Nature

Day 30

This mini shoot was at a beautiful door that I thought was fitting for the outfit I had in mind..
wasn't really planning this, because here if you just find something nice, the chances of you finding it again is so rare..so I had to wake up really early to get a few shots in before sunrise.

Location: Sanur, Bali

Quick tip
Any type of silk/satin fabric when fitted to the body, will unfortunately expose any type of imperfection you might have. If you are an hourglass, inverted-triangle or a rectangular shaped figure, this dress will suit you perfectly. However, if you are those shapes but still have some kind of imperfection anywhere, rather avoid wearing such fabrics when it's body fitting. Anything loose will make any lady look feminine and that is the plan. Will organise something more fitting for other figures soon.

My experience
I woke up at 6am to take these pictures and that time it was already very hot, so as you can see in the pictures, I am glowing a bit..also, have some highlight on but I had to do this as fast as possible because it was extremely humid. It was fun, felt more relaxed and chilled, also because I didn't have to move much :)
I loved the colour of the door, so knew this outfit would work here and make it look more chilled because to be honest this outfit should be worn as evening wear somewhere at a restaurant, but the setting changed the whole feel of it and that was the plan:)

Day 29

It was a really humid day and was drizzling the whole day, so I had to wait for the right time to take some pictures..
To me, this was a dreamy shoot, I think I was a bit sleepy before I took these pictures, but nonetheless I'm still in Bali and it's so green, so just had a laid-back shoot, no hassles ;)

Location: Kerobokan Bali
Jewellery by NamiPend

Quick tip
This look will fit an hourglass, inverted-triangle, rectangle and pear-shaped figure. An apple figure should place the waistband of the skirt above the waist area, taking attention off the waist.
But to me, this outfit will suit all body types, it's very classy and sophisticated.

My experience
This was truly a relaxed shoot, not heavy makeup was done or hair was stressed upon, it was just something you'd put on when you're having a relaxed day, in town. Had no hassle putting this outfit together.
It was chilled and that's why I liked it so much

Fashion vs trapped inside

Day 19

I had to take pictures at this location, had a relaxed dress for the venue, so decided why not..
I chose this dress because it was a thursday morning, so didn't want to be overdressed.
So, when you're having a lazy day and still want to look good- this is more what I would call a lazy outfit :)

Location: News cafe, Windhoek

 Quick tip
This maxidress is suitable for an hourglass, inverted-triangle and a pear-shaped figure. The waist area is being emphasized, taking attention off the shoulders or hips. An apple shaped figure can wear a dress like this when it is full flared from the bust down, not emphasizing the waist at all and that's what we want ;)

My experience
I love going to News cafe and the food is amazingggg, so just had to take pictures here :)
I had soo much fun and felt very relaxed doing this shoot. The people were amazing and helpful. I really just felt at home and now with the new menu <3
News cafe has a different vibe and very relaxed atmosphere, so I could relate and just enjoy the shoot ;)

Fashion vs Nature

Day 10

Soooo, I'm 29 kilometers south-east from Windhoek, at a lodge called Gocheganas.
This was just a day out really, so had another one of those casual looks and brought back Spider-man :)
This is a relaxed shoot, no stress just having a good time. It was very spontaneous, but but very exciting.

The outfit I chose was very casual, something I put together for the younger generation :D

Location: Gocheganas, Namibia

Quick tip
This outfit, as the previous blue skirt and Spider-man tee, will suit all inverted- triangle-, pear- and hourglass shaped figures. An apple- shaped will also be able to wear this outfit if the skirt is above the stomach then it will cover the stomach area.

My experience
This place is beautiful. I have heard soo much about it, but my first visit was great. The people were very friendly and the view :O breathtaking. It's not so far from Windhoek, so day trips are great.
Had fun and was able to see another amazing location, yet again.

Day 8

Sooo, I'm still at the coast..had one last shoot left before I head back to Windhoek.
This outfit is very simple, because I had a statement necklace, so the simpler the better.
Everything in this shoot is very laid back and comfortable, also because the surroundings were very harmonic, so I really couldn't be loud.

Jewellery sponsored by NamCrafts
Location: The seashore

Quick tip
This dress can be worn by all body shapes, I don't even need to say why. Nothing is too tight, it's just a long and loose silk dress. Everything is hidden, just pure comfort :)

My experience
This was very relaxing, I couldn't even wear shoes, it was too amazing. The sound of the waves <3 This shoot was very therapeutic. I could've stayed there longer, because it was starting to get chilly, it was sooo worth it though.
I love the sea, so this was great :)

Day 6

This was the longest drive ever...
I'm in Swakopmund at the moment.
Don't know how I managed to do this shoot, but it happened.

The reason I chose this dress was that it was perfect, knowing that I'll be climbing some dunes.
It was light and did not absorb any heat, so it was great for this setting

Jewellery by NamCrafts
Location: The Delight (Gondwana collection)
                Namib Desert, Swakopmund

Quick tip
This dress suits all body types. Everything you think you can possibly hide, can be hidden with this dress.
It's comfortable and flattering. You can wear it anywhere and just accessorize it to suit the occasion.

My experience
This shoot was so chilled. The sun wasn't blazing, so there wasn't any setbacks.
The surroundings were peaceful and relaxing.
Everyone who comes to the coast, leaves rejuvenated and that was just what it was.

Fashion vs Nature

Day 2

In the field :)
Did not plan a dress for this venue, but this was the one dress that really fit the part.
This is a 1900's shaped dress & the only reason why it works well in this location is due to the open fields.
Perfect location for this type of dress. The environment impacted on the colours in the dress & it complimented each another, so this dress made the cut.

Here I am in a village close to Ongandjera.

All accessories worn were sponsored by NamCrafts, Namibia.
Fabric sponsored by Jacksons, Da Gama, Namibia

Quick tip:
All waist-cut dresses can be worn by slim-waisted ladies. The hourglass, inverted triangle, pear- and rectangular shaped ladies can wear dresses with this cut. Also because it's an A-line dress, bigger hips are automatically hidden, so it's an amazing dress for pear- & hourglass shaped ladies, if they want to hide their hips.

My experience:
This was a very relaxed area, I would recommend it to those who just want to take time off & get away from the crazy city life.
The scenery was very beautiful & there wasn't much activity on the road or even at the village. It was a really relaxed place to be.
